Why Monday Doesn't Have to Feel This Way
Hey friend,
You know that feeling you get on Sunday around 4:00 p.m.?
The realization sets in that tomorrow is Monday and your entire mood changes.
Weekend mode is over. Worry mode has begun.
Let’s press the pause button.
Instead of being stuck where you are, I want to offer you something else. It’s a little four-letter word called hope.
In Stephen King’s Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, which inspired the 1994 movie, Andy writes, “Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
Andy wasn’t just talking about wishful thinking. The hope he had moved him to take action, and eventually led him to freedom.
That’s the kind of hope I’m offering you. A hope that moves you to take action and achieve financial freedom.
Imagine how you’d feel if, instead of dreading Monday, you looked forward to it because now you’re working for a bigger purpose.
You’re helping people, righting wrongs, or solving an injustice.
Wherever you are now is where you start. I know it sounds like a fortune cookie, but you are where you are, and that’s where you start.
Taking your focus off your job stress and devoting your energy to making the world better gives you motivation.
Let me shoot straight with you. It’s still work, but there’s a different kind of fulfillment when you’re working toward something bigger. Whether you stay in your current job or find a new one, start finding purpose in what you do.
Becoming more productive at your job will not only help you make more money, but it might also light a fire inside you to pursue new opportunities that align with your interests and passions.
Right now, you might be thinking, “Okay, Derrick, that sounds great, but tomorrow is still Monday, and I’m not looking forward to it.”
I get it.
But put one foot in front of the other. Think bigger than yourself, and you’ll get there.
Let me ask you something: Do you ever feel like schools didn’t teach you anything about money? Like the world is working against the middle class and the American Dream is slipping further out of reach?
You're not alone. But here’s the thing—it’s time to stop feeling left behind. It’s time to take back the American Dream.
Need to know where to start? Set one financial goal today.
Here’s a simple template to get you moving in the right direction:
Example:
- Goal: Save $20,000 for a home down payment
- Why this is important: I want to stop renting and own my home, building equity for my future
- Timeline: I will achieve this by December 2025
Now, take that goal and get laser-focused on it. Seeing progress on your biggest financial goal can create momentum and help you reach your other goals, too.
Live your life with purpose, because achieving the life you want requires action. It’s about making a conscious decision to make a difference.
To improve your community.
To leave the world better than you found it.
If you feel left behind financially, like everyone is running a marathon and you're still tying your shoes, this is for you.
You're not out, you're just behind. And together, we're going to put you on the path to financial freedom.
Your time is now to start taking back the American Dream.
To your success,
Derrick
